St. Louis Cold Drawn Named Top Workplace in St. Louis!
June 27, 2017

We are delighted to announce that St. Louis Cold Drawn has been named by the St. Louis Post-Dispatch as one of the Top Workplaces of 2017. The award, given to workplaces in the St. Louis area, is based on survey responses from over 35,000 people. The top workplaces are particularly recognized for their “effective leadership, strong values, clear direction and motivated workers.” In 2017, one-hundred-twenty area employers were named as a top workplace and St. Louis Cold Drawn was ranked sixteenth among small workplaces (companies with fewer than one-hundred-fifty employees).

The Post-Dispatch asked companies to describe the benefits they offer employees and the support they provide for local communities. STLCD highlighted its most impressive and positive benefit: our bonus system. Team members can earn more than double their base rate by exceeding production metrics. In the last several months, which witnessed near-record production, many team member have, in fact, received bonuses that have more than doubled their base pay. Every employee in the plant is a part of the bonus program, and so strong production and teamwork benefits everyone. STLCD also noted that it has donated to local and nationwide charities for decades, and that many of its donations directly affect team members and their families. Finally, as one of the qualities that sets its organization apart, STLCD described how its workforce hails from around the world — from Taiwan, Vietnam, and China, to Poland and Bosnia, to Mexico and the United States, and beyond.

Each workplace was asked to provide its vision, mission, and values. The vision of St. Louis Cold Drawn is “to provide the best customer experience in the cold-drawn steel bar industry.” Its mission is “to produce a superior cold-drawn steel bar that exceeds industry standards, through processes that promote employee safety, environmental sustainability, corporate profitability, and customer satisfaction.” In keeping with its core values, STLCD pledges to “make safety always our first consideration; to treat every employee, supplier, and customer with respect; to strive to create value throughout our supply chain and affected communities; to work always in the best interests of our stakeholders, suppliers, and customers.” We are honored to be recognized for our success in upholding this pledge, and we will renew our commitment to it every day.
